Research

I research User Interfaces or Humcan-Computer Interfaces, with a focus on input devices, video processing, information visualization, and entertainment computing.

Interactive Tabletop System

We are conducting research on input systems for tabletop systems, such as multi-touch and gesture inputs, as well as output systems including pseudo-3D displays and pseudo-tactile feedback using electrical stimulation. We are also proposing applications of these technologies to the entertainment field.

Interactive Toy Vending Machine

We are creating a gacha-gacha (capsule toy vending machine) that incorporates an LCD screen into the machine itself and adds mechanisms that allow users to play further with the obtained products, providing the worldview and stories of the toys or enabling play with the toys.

Interaction system using SmartSkin

We develop various interaction techniques for SmartSKin, a human body shape sensor / multi-touch sensor based on capacitive sensing developed at Sony Computer Science Lab.

Multiple Pointing Input System

The Multi-Point Input System (MPIS) is a system that allows users to simultaneously indicate multiple coordinates on a computer screen. While conventional GUIs can only use a single pointing device, MPIS enables simultaneous operation of multiple objects on the screen using multiple devices.
